Infobip account limits and throughput
Limits exist at three levels: the platform rate limit, the channel provider limit, and your per-account quality tier. Most delivery surprises during a campaign come from the third.
Rate limits
Outbound sends are queued and paced. Bursts above the account rate are held and retried rather than dropped, so a large campaign finishes later rather than failing.
Quality tiers
WhatsApp in particular assigns a business-initiated conversation tier per account. It moves with your quality rating, which is driven by blocks and reports from recipients. Clean opt-in and relevant targeting protect throughput more than any technical change.
Before a large send
Tell support your expected volume and window at least three business days ahead so throughput can be raised on the account.
Frequently asked
What is my WhatsApp messaging limit?
WhatsApp assigns a business-initiated conversation tier per WhatsApp Business Account. Tiers rise automatically with sustained quality and volume, and fall when quality drops.
What happens when I exceed the rate limit?
Messages are queued and retried rather than dropped. Sustained overage delays campaign completion; contact support to raise throughput ahead of a large send.
Does a low quality rating stop sending?
A low rating reduces your tier and can pause template categories. It is driven by user blocks and reports, so fix targeting and opt-in quality first.
